For the most part the data displayed on the ORC Club certificate
is intended to be self-evident and requires little explanation.
The central part of the certfificate is taken by the boat
drawing representing real ratios among hull, rig and sail
measurements. Measurement and rating data are also displayed as
text in different boxes grouping the similar data together as
follows:
-
Boat - Boat's name and
sail number
-
GPH - General Purpose
Handicap - A rating which is taking in account boat's
performance in all possible wind directions expressed in
s/NM for average wind speed of 8 - 12 knots
-
Hull - Boat description
with main dimensions
-
Class - General class
data including the Age Date when boat was launched, Series
Date when first boat of that series was launched and credit
for the boat's age.
-
Heavy items - Presence
of heavy items eligible for the handicap credit of
Cruiser/Racer boats due to the higher pitching inertia
-
Propeller - Type of
propeller and installation with propeller diameter
-
Certificate -
Administrative data with date until certificate is valid
-
Crew weight - Declared and
Defuallt crew weight with special ToD and ToT scoring
coefficients for double handed races
-
Sails Limitations -
Number of Sails allowed aboard while racing and spinnaker
configuration
-
Stability - Limit of
positive stability and stability index are displayed either
measured or estimated with lowest offshore special
regulations category of race for which boat is eligible
Boat's drawing may
include some items depending on the actual rig and sail
configuration as follows:
-
The rig
configuration details vary with the input. Thus, the
spreaders diagrammed match the spreader count, the standing
rigging matches adjustable stays recorded, jumper or inner
forestay are shown if recorded and split rigs are shown with
a mizzen together with appropriate dimensions.
-
A bow sprit is
shown if the jib can be tacked forward of the stem.
-
The transom
geometry will represent actual boat's transom in various
types from default reverse transom to the options with
outboard rudder
-
Asymmetrical
spinnakers are shown according to the type declared for the
yacht; i.e., the type which the rule requires to be tacked
on the yacht’s centerline (and no pole is permitted aboard)
or else the type of asymmetrical which may be tacked on a
spinnaker pole aboard the yacht. Spinnaker configuration is
also noted in the Sails Limitation box.
-
Rated sail areas are printed on each sail
-
A
cruising-type jib furler/reefer is displayed if fitted.
-
Only a
polyester/nylon sail inventory produces a message in the
Sails Limitation box.
Scoring
options are presented on the ORC Club
certificates in the same form just as on the ORC International
certificate. ORC Club Scoring options may be customized by the
national rating office to have preffered scoring options printed
in black and all other in grey, but all the scoring options are
always available for use internationally.
