Syd
Fischer’s Ragamuffin
has taken and holds
a slim corrected
time lead in ORCi
standings in the
Rolex Sydney Hobart
Yacht Race, in a
tight race among two
other rivals with
only 90 miles left
to the finish.
As of midnight local
time, the
Farr-designed TP52
less than two miles
from Jason Van der
Slot’s Calm, another
Farr TP52, and less
than a mile from
yesterday’s leader,
Chris Bull’s Cookson
50 Jazz. All three
are heading
southwest at about 9
knots and are only
20 miles from Cape
Sonnerat and the
turn west towards
the final leg
towards the finish
in Hobart.
Going just as fast
and riding a
favorable breeze
some 100 miles
astern is Darryl
Hodgkinson’s
Beneteau First 45
Victoire, who is
currently lying in
third place overall
and leading Division
2. Division 3 is
still led by Roger
Hickman’s Farr 43
Wild Rose, who is
currently lying in
5th place overall.
The first to finish in the ORCi fleet will be Peter Millard’s water-ballasted Blakewell-White 30m Maxi Lahana, who is only a few miles from the finish line trailing the leaders Wild Oats XI and Investec Loyal, and in the current ORCi corrected time standings lies in 22nd overall.
