ORC International Certificate |
|
|
|
ORC International certificate comes in two A4 pages. The
First page contains all the rating
details used mainly by the race committee to score races
as well as by sailors while racing. Besides the boat's
data with general specifications, there is rating
information provided for the simple scoring options and
time allowances for Performance Curve Scoring with four
types of pre-selected courses. The most important
section for sailors is the Velocity prediction in knots
for true wind speed given in the table for 6, 8, 10, 12,
14, 16 and 20 knots of true wind speed and wind angles
of optimum beat, 52, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150 and
optimum downwind angles. Additionally, there is
infomation about declared and default crew weight
including double-handed and non-spinnaker scoring coefficients, number of
sails allowed aboard while racing and limitation for the
storm sail's area.
Second page is the IMS Measurement
certificate that includes all the measurements as
recorded by the measurer including complete sails
inventory and measurement inventory recorded on the
inclining test. Some measurement data such as mizzen,
centerboard, canting keel and water ballast are shown
only when they are relevant.
Optional
third page is showing sail plan and complete
sails inventory.

GPH: General Purpose Handicap is an average
representation of all time allowances used for simple
comparisons between boats and possible class divisions. It
is calculated as an average of the time allowances of 8 and
12 knots true wind speed for the Circular Random
pre-selected course.

Sail plan and sails invenotry |
|
 |
Optional third page is
showing sail plan and complete sails inventory. Boat's drawing may
include some items depending on the actual rig and sail
configuration as follows:
-
The rig configuration details vary with the input. Thus, the
spreaders diagrammed match the spreader count, the standing
rigging matches adjustable stays recorded, jumper or inner
forestay are shown if recorded and split rigs are shown with
a mizzen together with appropriate dimensions.
-
A bow sprit is
shown if the jib can be tacked forward of the stem.
-
The transom
geometry will represent actual boat's transom in various
types from default reverse transom to the options with
outboard rudder
-
Asymmetrical
spinnakers are shown according to the type declared for the
yacht; i.e., the type which the rule requires to be tacked
on the yacht’s centerline or else the type of asymmetrical
which may be tacked on a spinnaker pole aboard the yacht.
-
Rated sail areas are printed on each sail
-
A
cruising-type jib furler/reefer is displayed if fitted.
Sails inventory include all sails measured with additional
information for measurer, measurement date, manufacturer,
sail material and comment. Code 0 type of asymmetric
spinnaker is additionally noted.
